Viewpoints-test

Viewpoints is a new series of events that will allow faculty, students, others to join members of ETS in exploring a range of pedagogical issues relating to teaching and learning with technology. New events with unique topics will take place about once per month, and each will include a panel of at least one faculty member, one student, and one ETS Learning Designer.

The purpose of these sessions is to invite the academic community (faculty, staff, students) to participate in civil discourse on current topics that involve teaching and learning with technology. This is an opportunity to engage in collaborative argumentation in which the group of attendees explore and critique different ideas about the topic to build a deeper understanding (Veerman, Andriessen & Kanselaar, 2002). To encourage everyone to be a part of this collaboration, please:

  • Be respectful
  • Don’t make it personal
  • Think critically and reflectively about the ideas presented and build on them

Bring your viewpoints to these interactive sessions! We encourage members of the UBC community to attend and actively take part in the discussions, or else come simply as a silent spectator and watch the conversation unfold.
