Are you planning to use AI tools and wondering how to critically assess and evaluate their features and output? Are you in search of tools capable of generating multimodal content while considering potential ethical issues and limitations? We have curated a set of activities to facilitate and guide your exploration. These hands-on activities follow a three-step process: Explore-Reflect-Extend, encouraging meaningful, critical and thoughtful exploration.

These activities can be undertaken individually or in small groups, providing a flexible approach to enhance your understanding and assist in the selection of the most suitable tools for your need.

Please note that unless otherwise specified, these tools are not Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) compliant and have not undergone a UBC Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA). In the absence of a PIA, instructors should not mandate the use of a tool or service without presenting alternatives that do not necessitate the use of students’ personal information.
